February 27, 2012

Sounds like a good and sad weekend.  I was so sad that he lost in the finals.  But he didn’t act like some other kids we’ve seen in the past.  But sad that they couldn’t pull it out 4 years in a row.  But whatever....it’s over....unless mine and Spencer’s kids wrestle.

But I am still in Puerto Pabla.  Elder Segovia left me.  Now I’m with Elder Norton.  Its gonna be a long transfer I think.  Hhe if from Wisconsin and I’m still Senior Companion.

Saturday we had our baptism....it’s about time.  But the font wouldn’t fill up with water, it just came out way slow, so when it was time to do the baptism there was like maybe up to my crotch it that.  And this was an older lady.  And she is a little bigger, and 3 times her feet came out of the water and then her head wouldn’t go under.  I had to baptize her like 5 times.

We found some good new investigators this week like 14.  Also we have two investigators who are cool.  They came to church yesterday and they need to get married so we have a lesson with them tonight with their member friends.  We are gonna commit them to get married.  So we´ll see how that goes.

Today I am going to take out like 25 bucks and have something made for me to pass around to all of the people here in Paraguay.  Little business cards with my pic the Paraguay flag in the background, my info and a sentence in guaraní.  I’ll send you one when I get them.

That’s about all for the week.

Love ya mom

February 20, 2012

Well this week was alright.  The change is over.  Right now I am in my 7th change. They are every six weeks.  Next change I will have a year!!!!  SO we didn’t have a baptism Saturday.  We tried but couldn’t get over to the lady to teach her the last few things and go over the baptism questions.  But last night we had the baptism interview and she is getting baptized Saturday.  Hope I’m still here since there are changes on Wednesday.  I will know where I am going tomorrow, if I stay or if I go.  I really hope I get to stay,  after 13 weeks of no baptisms and then finally to have one and have to leave 3 days before would stink, but I’m pretty sure that I’m gonna leave.  I’ve been here in Puerto Pabla for 4 months already.

I wasn’t expecting a bunch of happy birthdays or anything but the day was weird.  We had like no lessons and it was like 105 degrees.  But I made myself a cake and it was ok.

Pretty sweet Spencer won district.  And when I read the list it was weird to see that Austin Schaffer is at 195.  How??? Is he wrestling up like 30 pounds???  And Jackson didn’t win?  Is he gonna win state?  Looks like you would have 5 champs this weekend, all the kids who won district, probably should win state.

So I threw away my slippers, they are ruined and I haven’t used them in like 2 and a half months.  Some questions, idk if you know if they have called a new mission president yet?  If my taxes for this year came or how much they are?  I need a watch, my Nike one broke, I put a new battery in it and it still didn’t work and then the screen just went blank. So I’m gonna send you a pic of a watch maybe that you could send me.

That’s pretty much it for this week, not much....

Love you mom

Hey mom how are you doing?  This week was really hard.  I got sick, I had a fever of 103 and then like 101 the next day.  I felt like crud and then my comp got sick too.  We both had fevers and diarrhea; sorry it’s in Spanish I don’t know how to spell it in English.  And we had like no lessons so it makes it look like a really bad week and that we did nothing.  But we did get some great new investigators.  One Family who we love and they love us is the Oliveira family. The mom of Brother Oliviera moved in with them because she is tired of the garbage that happens with her kids who are not members yet.  She moved in with the promise of going to church and listening to the missionaries.  We taught her lesson one and she said she would read the BOM and be baptized and go to church.  2 days later we taught the plan of salvation and she actually talked to us in this lesson.  I asked her if she wanted to be baptized still and she said that she was going to be baptized and she read the BOM.  None of us thought that she was going to come to church this week because she has been invited hundreds of times, but she came, and today we are going to change her baptism date for this Saturday so hope that goes all good tonight.  Also we got a couple; they were a reference from the Vega family.  They really like the lessons we teach them and about how families can be eternal but they didn’t come to church.  We will be dropping the cane on them and the Vega family today!!!

That’s so cool Morgan and Hunter got their mission calls.  I’m sure grandma great and grandpa great are proud to have 1 missionary and 3 future missionaries.

I can’t wait for next week to hear how district went.  Obviously Spencer has the number one seed and that he will win, tell him he has to pin his way through the tournament, and that if he does that he will win State!!!!

You had stake conference and we had zone conference.  It was good.  I say Elder Lamb.  We learned a lot of stuff to help us be better missionaries.  This last week I have really been trying to hear the spirit and hear the investigators and what they need, what part of the Doctrine of Christ they need in their lives.  Also I think I have been doing better at asking inspired questions.

I got my birthday package on Thursday and I got 3 letters from Saige.  I can’t believe what you put in there mom.  Like I told you how the week was hard and crappy, I changed that last night by drinking my(caffeine free) Dr. Pepper.  It tasted so good.  I took a pic of me drinking it for you also.  I loved all the pics too and the shirt.  The shoes are good.  Well the bottoms of them are great, the inside and the top on the outside aren’t doing to good.  But they are gonna last a while.

My companion and I are doing good.  We always talk about funny stuff and have all of our inside jokes and stuff.  This is the last week of the change and the last week of training him.  I’m glad about that, because 4 hours of studying is a long time.  I will be able to leave the house at 10:30 am again.  I’m gonna ask president if I can stay in this area too.

Also last things....today I have 10 months in the mission!!!!

When does Dallin Hardy leave?

That’s about it

Love you mom

February 6, 2012

Well this week wasn’t as good as last week with the numbers.  But it was good.  I am doing good.  We have zone conference this week, so that will be good to go there learn some more, see some other missionaries.  And last week I paid for a package that I will get today so maybe it’s from you.  Elder Segovia and I found some new people this week and invited a bunch of people to get baptized, but then, we didn’t have a single person come to church.  That was sad.  Work hard all week and then the last day when it all counts, nothing.  And it was raining all week long.  And there are no storm drains here, it all just comes to a river in front of our house, so we were walking around in water up past our ankles.  And that isn’t helping my shoes at all right now.  I have to glue them like once a week they are so crappy.  They also have giant holes in them, so I’m just hoping that they last for a while longer, but I’m gonna save them until I come home and I’ll wear them!!!

I hope you have a good birthday this week mom, you won’t be getting anything in the mail for a while because I am sending it Thursday....but it’s a package for you.  It has something for you and a little thing for everyone. Hope it gets to your house.  And I didn’t even have to buy the thing for you, I told Betty I wanted to buy this thing and she just bought it for me.  Jorge and Betty are the best people ever.  Every Sunday we have FHE with them and she always prepares the lesson.  And afterwards we eat pizza.  It’s always good, but anyways, hope your gift arrives!!!

And for my birthday, I am going to spend a little money and buy tapas or scripture cases for my English scriptures.  They are way better than the ones I have now for my Spanish scriptures.  Every picture on the outside has Jesus on it and on the inside of the Bible too.  On the inside of the Book of Mormon there are 2 without Jesus but whatever they are still way cool.  And I am getting a tapa for my hymn book and for my mission manual.  I still have some of my own money so I won’t have to take that much out today.

It’s about time Spencer won a tournament.  Now he has 9 more matches to be a state champ.  Not that much left for him.  Is there anyone in the District that has a chance to beat him?  I don’t think he has lost in the district.  And then at state in the finals he will be so ticked off at the guy from rigby that he will rip his head off, just tell him to wrestle smart and not do anything stupid like at Reno HAHA!!!  Tell him good luck for me.

I’m reading the Book of Mormon again, I’m in 2 Nephi something, president asked all the missionaries to read the whole thing by June/July when he leaves, so I think that will be easy....and it will be the 3rd time that I have read it, twice in Spanish!!!

Here are some pics that I have.  The Book of Mormons that I read.

Have a good Birthday mom....

Love you

Taylor
